Workshop on TEMPO Project Management System Held at Serbian Tax Administration

A workshop introducing the TEMPO project management system was held on November 19 and 20 at the Tax Administration of the Republic of Serbia. TEMPO, developed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs (DG TAXUD), provides tools, guidelines, and procedures for efficiently managing complex trans-European tax, customs duties, and excise (TES) systems.

During the two-day event, participants gained insights into the TEMPO methodology and practical guidelines, with examples from EU countries. The workshop focused on aligning business development strategies and procedures with IT solutions, ensuring projects meet quality standards, stay within budget, and deliver results on time. Topics also included security management and safeguarding sensitive information, as well as strategic and operational planning techniques.

Real-world applications of the TEMPO system were demonstrated through case studies, emphasizing the importance of decision-making processes and the roles and responsibilities at each level of management. Serbian Tax Administration representatives were shown how these tools and methods could improve project management and software system development, helping harmonize local practices with European standards.

This workshop is one of a series of activities supported by the project "EU for Public Finance Management in Serbia", funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, in partnership with the Center for Excellence in Finance (CEF) and the Ministry of Finance of Slovakia.
